I totally get that, and oh yeah, Jordan was absolutely terrible at building actual romances instead of just saying the Pattern wanted it to be so and running with that. Like, none of the relationships make a damn bit of actually internal emotional sense.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have loved Lan's quiet "No woman deserves the sure knowledge of widow's black for her brideprice, least of all you" for almost a quarter century, I likely would have forgotten it as well!!
