Having a guide who knows a lot about flowers was a serendipity. I started asking a lot of questions about geology, e.g. comparing the formation of the different peaks around us, as that's what I usually think about when hiking in such grand mountains. She told us geology isn't her specialty and said I probably know more about it than her. I was happy, then, to tap her knowledge on flowers. Identifying flowers is an area where my knowledge is weak. She suggested an app that sounds like it could help enormously... except most of the places I see wildflowers are outside cellphone range!
