Re: the planning part of things-- We used to get meal kits delivered to us weekly. We went through a couple of them, and wound up with Blue Apron. They still require you to chop and mix and cook the stuff, but they do deal with the planning and proportions and such.
I wouldn't say the food was great, and sometimes there aren't any really good choices, but it was certainly at least decent and very edible.
Though don't get me started on kale, which at one point was in every single recipe we could get....
