LinkedIn knew the usage pattern of reading emails. (pre-pandemic) In the US there was a wave starting at 9AM in each time zone, but in Europe it was in the evening. So many people would click on the "jobs you might be interested in" email they caused a self-inflicted DDOS, and started randomizing the email sending time to spread out the load.
