One of the fun things about writing (and speaking) with a better than average vocabulary is sticking in colorful words here and there to make things more vivid and/or add double entendre. In this case I could also have used roost, though that would imply a spot we return to regularly. We've only stayed in Madera twice in the past several years. Thus, perch. 😅
