Erasure? Yeah. We Xers have been familiar with that for a long time. In fact that was the literal genesis of the label "Gen X". But while erasure, generally speaking, can happen due to ignorance or malice— and it was the expectation of being ignored or skipped over that drove the name "Gen X"— to call it bait implies a level of malice. A deliberate effort to poke at us, to troll us on purpose. I don't think that's there. I think we're just being skipped over, yet again, because it's simpler for young people trying to make a rhetorical point.
