Those look more like the dice that came in my red box set c. 1982. They were cheap plastic and came with a crayon to color in the unpainted grooved numbers. The supposed 1978 dice in my picture are clearly higher quality than that. The plastic is better, there's no concavity, and the numbers are painted in. That's why I'm skeptical they are original dice. Either that or TSR really cheaped out badly on dice by 1982.
