That sounds a bit similar to my experience in the videogames industry. Definitely a lot of exploitation going on there. Bosses were all 😱🤯🔪 when I pushed back on them with, "This is inappropriate and unprofessional behavior."

That was ~20 years ago now. I'm uncertain if it's better today.
