We pressed the easy button on hiking at these falls Sunday. We walked around the paved paths near the parking lot then out across the top of one of the butte on dirt paths where there were numerous "DANGER! RISK OF DEATH!!1!" signs at the cliff edge. We did see a few ways to get down into the canyon but didn't try any of them.
Two routes I saw were narrow, steep crevasses that descend about halfway down the canyon. From there there's a trail that contours around it to the top of the falls. I also saw two easier descents upstream of the falls that lead down to the top of the falls level and the contour trail. From that contour trail I could see a very slippery path down a field of scree opposite the falls that would take you to the basin at the bottom. In better weather, and especially if Hawk were in better shape to be able to join me on such a challenging hike, I would have tried it.
