Late Night Seems To Come So Early

We set the clocks back early this morning, ending Daylight Saving Time for the next 4 months. I knew what it was going to feel like when the clocks change. I wrote about it a few days ago. Indeed it was nice to have light streaming through the shutters of my bedroom windows by 7am. (I still slept in 'til 9 anyway. Because weekend.) But on the other end... ugh, it was dark so early. Even though I knew what the change was going to be and prepared for it, it still caught me off balance.

"Wow, it feels so late," I told myself this evening. "It feels like it's after 9pm."

It wasn't even 6:30 yet.

Well, I'll get used to it in a few days. And the short days will continue getting shorter for another month and a half. Ugh. But hey, on the positive side it's just a little over 4 months until DST comes back around again on March 13, 2022.

This is the hardest part of year for me (and I expect I'm not alone) and it's the one reason I can't get as worked up about the whole "omg, people start doing Christmas things in November" thing as a lot of people do --I want every house around me to put those holiday lights up asap so it feels like there's a comfort in the dark!

But in the meantime, biking home from work is going to be hellish today.
