Mystery Solved! (No Coffin, No Bomb)
Apr. 30th, 2021 02:44 pmYesterday I wrote about the mystery of an unknown Fedex delivery. Ironically the mystery was resolved minutes after I posted the blog when the package hit my doorstep at 10:30am. It was doubly ironic because the package arrived early. When I'm waiting on something I ordered and want, they push back delivery a day then deliver after 5pm. But then when it's something I didn't order and has a good chance of being an address error, it's here early. 🙄
So, what was it? Well, when I joked yesterday, "Maybe it's a coffin," that was really only my #4 guess. But that's the one I posted because it was the funniest. 😅 My #1 guess was a minor gift from my company. Which it turned out it was.

The box that arrived was large because one of the gifts inside was this fuzzy blanket. It's got the company logo on it, which I've blurred out in the picture above, along with the name of the sales kickoff (SKO) event I helped with several weeks ago. Also in the package was this water purifying bottle:

I appreciate the thought behind these gifts more than the gifts themselves. Both are trendy items of questionable usefulness. The blanket is one of those big-fad-the-past-two-years square blankets that don't fit on, say, a bed. They're too small to cover an adult laying down. Basically they're for throwing over your lap when you're sitting, or using with a baby or a dog— of which I have neither. I already have a few blankets like this— like I said, they've been a fad the past few years— and frankly I'm not that interested in home decor with my employer's logo on it.
The purifier bottle also has my company's logo on it. I just turned it around for the picture. And while you might think a water purifier would actually appeal to me because of how much I like hiking in the outdoors, the problem is it's metal. Metal drink bottles have been quite fashionable the past few years, but here's the thing.... Have you ever tried carrying a metal bottle when you're out hiking several miles? If you want to flash a fashion statement while trotting between your import luxury car and the door of the gym, yeah, it's great, but lugging that weight through the wilderness is not.
Sadly, both of these items may turn up at the local Goodwill store in a few weeks.
