canyonwalker: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Travel! (planes trains and automobiles)

I flew home from Austin this morning. It was almost 11am when I walked through my front door... and went pretty much straight to my home office for an 11am videoconference with a customer. I'd already been up since 5am Central time, which is 3am local.

The workday didn't want to let go. People had planned stuff around my normal work hours. And two people were trying to grab my lunch hour for meetings. I told them both no and took my full hour.... 45 minutes to eat, and 15 to just kind of veg and refocus. It helped because then I had 3 more hours of work after lunch.

I'm going to be busy like this for a few days.... and then I'm leaving town again! Yeah, barely more than 48 hours after I got home I'll be leaving again, this time for a long weekend trip to Sedona. We only planned it a little over a week ago. I'm totally looking forward to going. The busy-ness between now and then, not so much.

Tons of travel! Is this normal for you, or "post"-pandemic catch-up?

(I work a job that involves zero travel, unless I want to go on a field trip with my students. Meanwhile, my father has literally taken day trips to conferences in South Africa (I believe he was gone a total of 28 hours) and traditionally spends zero October weekends at home).
