Business Trip! (QBR)

I'm leaving after lunch today on a business trip. I'm writing about that here because business travel is so uncommon now, after the pandemic. I'm down to generally 1-2 trade shows and 1-2 internal business meetings a year. That's down from a peak of over 50% travel a decade ago.
In a way I had a business trip last Thursday. I approached my day in San Francisco with the same sense of anticipation I'd approach a short business trip. Of course, that one was extra short. It was a matter of driving 40 miles, meeting for 3 hours, then driving home. It was less a "trip" than a workday with a tough commute.
The trip I'm leaving on in a few hours is longer than that, though not by much. I'm only going as far as Tiburon, California, which is north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate. The event is a QBR, a quarterly business review. In sales we do QBRs every quarter (hence the name), though at this point it's been years since we've done one face-to-face. We'll meet this evening in Tiburon for a team dinner, stay overnight at a nice hotel, spend most of the day tomorrow in meetings reviewing our sales achievements and plans for the near future, and leave late afternoon.
