Here Comes the Sun Again

After the deluge of the past 48+ hours you might think I'd be humming Here Comes The Rain Again. But this morning the rain tapered off and the sun came out again!
The atmospheric river that started overnight Saturday night was originally forecast to last through Wednesday. Then something changed along the way. The winds shifted it a bit to the south and maybe also ferried it along faster than expected.
The SF Bay Area still got plenty of rain. Figures from this San Jose Mercury News article (14 Dec 2021), for example, indicate that San Jose got 1.5 inches, San Francisco got almost 3.5 inches, and some of the most rain-prone areas in the region got 8-10 inches. The Sierras have gotten 2-3 feet of snow.
The sunny skies won't last long. Meteorologists say another rain system will arrive late tomorrow. But it should blow past quickly, with a sunny day forecast on Saturday. I sure hope that part of the forecast sticks. Hiking Russian Ridge last Saturday was great; I'd love to be able to get out for a local hike again this weekend.
