It was years before our first visit to that park, too. From Highway 101 in either direction the mountain is very prominent but also seemingly unapproachable. Industrial parks and housing developments push right up to its feet. Above them... nothing, except for the radio towers at the top. Guadalupe Canyon Parkway is kind of hidden from the freeways. It's like you've got to know something's there before you find it.
