For that matter, why is prayer of any kind involved in sports? Sports is a competition (sometimes brutal competition) to beat the other side. It's usually followed by a great deal of chest pounding or dejection and ridicule. None of which seem to develop responsible citizens.

Contact sports have been blown out of proportion to be something much bigger than what they are: Teams in a competitive game. With emphasis on the word "game." Instead it's win at any cost! lie, cheat, steal whatever it takes. If you don't get caught then it didn't happen. Yes, it did. Are these quality human values?
