One thing to note: The books aren't finished yet. There are currently five published, out of the currently-planned seven. (Apparently the original plan was for six.) The fifth was published in 2011, so heaven only knows when or if the seventh book will actually be published.

I hope it's not regarded as a spoiler to say that I heard a lot of reactions to the end of the series were, "Whaaaaa?" Followed by the usual internet chaos.
