This salt lasted us 24 years because a) it's a huge canister and b) as I explained above we use this type of salt very sparingly. Other spices on our spice rack turn over far more quickly. Garlic, paprika, and freeze-dried chives we replace quite often.

Your joke about "How white?" reminds me of when a friend of mine from way back, who lives in the South, visited before the pandemic. We cooked dinner together, and he was wowed at the size of our spice collection... especially how many jars we keep handy, next to the stove, not squirreled away in a cabinet. "Most guys I know just own salt and pepper," he remarked.
