There & Back Again

Our day-trip Saturday out to Sierra National Forest was successful. We got up & out early, making the drive 185-ish miles in just over 3 hours. We had a great hike on the Lewis Creek Trail just north of Oakhurst. See my recent blogs: Lewis Creek Trail, Red Rock Falls, and Corlieu Falls.
We finished up the Lewis Creek hike around 3:30 or 4pm. The day was still young; we considered making it a three-fer with a visit to another falls in the area! Fortunately it was a drive-to falls, no hiking; we were pretty tired. But alas, even the extra driving, at least 1.5 hours, seemed like too much. We decided to head home and get in comfortably around 8pm, including making a dinner stop along the way, instead of arriving home well after 10.
It's good we chose to call it when we did. With stops for food, gas, and leg stretching we arrived home sometime around 8:30pm. And I was wrecked. I asked Hawk to take over the driving for the last 45 minutes. When we got home I unpacked my stuff from the car, took a shower, and went to bed. I was lights-out shortly after 9pm. But what a great day!
