Summer in Winter

The calendar says it's still winter, but the weather is saying summer.

We're in the middle of a heat wave this week. Temperatures have been topping out in the upper 80s to 90F (around 32° C). After Spring arrived in February with lots of warm, dry weather, it's gotten way warmer than normal this week, like 25+° above normal.

I've been wearing shorts the past several days and have switched on the air conditioner in the house. Along with us not having seen any rain in weeks that's my trifecta of signs it's summertime. And the official end of winter is still a few days away.

It was 90* Sunday, and then I had a fire going in the fireplace Tuesday. I'm just tired of the whiplash. I probably won't be saying that this summer when it's 100*-plus, but at least now we have a pool to hop into! Although it seems like we had kind of a mild summer last summer. Mild as in 90's instead of 105*.
