Northwest Return Travelog #1
Aboard WN 688 - Thu, 29 Jul 2021. 8pm.
After three canceled attempts to return to the Inland Northwest— and this trip close to getting canceled— we are finally en route to Spokane. The fourth time's a charm!
I thought about writing this blog while riding the train to Hawk's office but figured that might be premature. Our bad experience getting home from an east coast trip in June reminded us that just because a flight's showing on time when you arrive at the airport, and even just because you board the aircraft, doesn't actually guarantee you're going anywhere. I waited 'til our jet passed 10,000 feet to start penning this.
The plan is we fly tonight to Spokane, Washington, then rent a car. We'll drive to Clarkston, Washington, which is on the border with Lewiston, Idaho— get it, Lewiston and Clarkston? 🙄— and check into a hotel for a four-night stay. From our home base in Clarkston we'll take day trips to various hiking spots in Idaho, Washington, and even Oregon. We fly home Monday afternoon.
