Easy Evening in the Texas Panhandle

Well, after a late night Saturday and an early morning and full day hiking, we've been taking it easy the rest of today. We finished up our hike at 3:30 and got back to town by 4. We opted for an early dinner/really late lunch right away. That meant "going stinky", i.e. not showering or changing into clean clothes beforehand. It's not like we were covered in mud, or anything. And this is the Texas panhandle. They're accustomed to worse.
There weren't a lot of choices for eats in Canyon. It's a town of about 13,000, according to the sign on the road at the edge of town. It's also a college town. West Texas A&M is located here.
We found a local Tex-Mex restaurant just off the town square, built around an 1890s courthouse building that's still in use. The clientele were an interesting mix of locals dressed in their Sunday best cowboy boots and cowboy hats, and college students. Hawk ordered a stuffed avocado; I had a brisket chimichanga. She had a virgin piña colada while I downed a house margarita and a glass of Shiner Bock on tap, both happy hour specials. It was all good. We were almost too tired and achy to care, but it was good; which made it even better.
Back at the hotel we lugged all our gear up to the room, changed into our swim suits, and went back downstairs to use the hot tub. It felt great to have a soak.
After using the hot tub we relaxed in our room for a while. I was really tired so I took a nap for a few hours. On the one hand I felt lame for napping in the early evening. On the other hand, I knew it was warranted after too many nights of 4-5 hours sleep this week.
I got back up around 8:30pm and have loafed around with my computer since then. I took a shower to freshen up. I kinda want to pack my bags tonight to make it easier to leave tomorrow morning but I'm too achy to want to bother. We'll do it in the morning.
