A Day on the Coast, a Day at the Pool
Aug. 22nd, 2021 10:17 pmThis has been another one of those weekends that's both fast and slow. Saturday we were busy with a drive down the Central Coast. We hiked in two parks and came home pretty tired out... especially as the trip home entailed a third hike all around an area Costco. I swear it's easy to do a mile in those stores! And I swear I'll share pictures soon— of the hikes, not the inside of Costco. 😂
Today was our taking-it-easy day. I like it when we pair a busy day with an easy day. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, of having done more with my weekend than loaf around the house and do a shopping trip or two. So what did we do today? Well, we loafed around the house in the morning then walked out for a shopping trip after lunch. 😅
In the mid afternoon Hawk caught up on some reading on the balcony while I went for a swim in the pool. Thankfully the air was much cleaner today than the past few days. We got a reprieve from the smoke. And while the air temperature wasn't hot around 3pm the pool felt great. The water was at an almost bathtub-warm 85° (29.5° C), warm enough that I could walk almost straight in without pausing halfway to acclimate.
We met up with a friend for dinner at a local cluster of restaurants. We ate outside at the patio enjoying the last warmth of the day. We all preferred eating outside given the grim reality of the Coronavirus Delta surge. It was good to catch up with a friend face to face. Video and phone calls don't quite cut it.
