Summer Returns for a Visit

canyonwalkerI've seen in the news that it's been hot across a lot of the US this past week. The news mainly focuses on midwest and eastern weather, though. Meanwhile it's been hot here in California, too! ...Not that I'd know first-hand as I left town early Monday morning for Phoenix and Vegas and didn't return until Thursday night. I kept up with the situation on my weather app, though. While it was a totally mild high of 85° in Phoenix on Monday, and even cooler at just 75° in Vegas, it was already hitting 90s in Silicon Valley.
The heat here at home has lasted throughout the week. It has actually been hotter here than in the desert! While Vegas's temps rose to 86° by Thursday it hitting 93° here. Even when I got home just after 9pm Thursday it was hot and humid outside. We ran the air conditioner all night— very much contrary to my indicators that Autumn has begun.
Friday I would've loved to do something outdoors. Alas I was busy all day with work. And I was so tired by 5:30pm when I finished that I didn't even want to sit outside with a cold drink in hand.
Today, though... Today is the day I plan to enjoy this great weather! Just before it ends. 😅 The warm weather pattern is breaking this weekend. Tomorrow's forecast high is 84°, then back into the lower 70s this coming week. But today? Today it's still supposed to hit 90°. Hawk and I are planning an afternoon out in the pool.
