The Days are Already Blurring Together
Feb. 25th, 2026 08:33 pmI'm only on Day 3...ish of retirement, and already the days are blurring together. I asked myself a few times today whether it was Wednesday or Thursday... or even Tuesday. Without the defined schedule of work and its M-F cadence it's easy to lose track of which day it is.
One thing I discovered while doing normally weekend stuff on a Wednesday is that one restaurant I enjoy going to for lunch— but have really only ever been to on weekends— is crazy busy during the week. Like, the line to order was 10 people deep when I arrived... and 20 people deep when I left. Yeah, I'mma stick to weekends there.

Thoughts

Give yourself a little time to think it over and decide how you feel about it. If the lack of structure bothers you, then you can always recreate it by joining clubs or other activities that have a weekly schedule.

Date: 2026-02-26 06:48 am (UTC)I did anticipate this, BTW. And I've been looking forward to it. I've been looking forward to being able to enjoy things like playing at the bridge club, visiting parks, and traveling without being limiting to doing such things only on nights, weekends, and holidays. So on the scale of like it/don't like it, I definitely like it. But it will take some adjusting to restore situational awareness of time.
