Another Departure from my Previous Job
Mar. 18th, 2026 07:24 pmI saw an update on LinkedIn last week that another former colleague has left the team I worked for up until recently. With his departure the team's down to 3 in all of the Americas and I think just 6 worldwide. To put that in perspective, as recently as August we had 14 worldwide. A few years ago we numbered 25.
The person who left just recently was also a new(ish) hire, having signed on last October. In a practice I disagreed with, the company was slow-rolling his onboarding process. He wasn't delivering presentations solo for at least the first two months. By contrast, when I came on board years ago, I was soloing by week 3 and training colleagues by week 6. I don't know if him feeling like he wasn't being trusted with a full workload was one of his reasons for leaving. I do know that he's a senior level person and left for a team-lead role at a company he used to work for several years ago. That tells me the company is having a tough time attracting good people, even in this tough market for job seekers.
