Sightseeing & Shopping in Cabo

Cabo San Lucas · Tue, 12 May 2026. 5pm.
Us going out for lunch in Cabo this afternoon wasn't just about going out for lunch. We also did a bit of sightseeing and shopping.
On our way out to lunch we passed a park I remember as a landmark from our visit two years ago. I didn't remember, though, what was the purpose of the park. We walked around the 3 sides of it that didn't have signs. Today we walked the other wise. 😅

"Aquí Comienza México" the display reads, if I imagine the missing letters correctly. Mexico Starts Here. And "KM.0" represents Kilometer 0, the start of Mexico's federal highway 1.

Geographically Cabo San Lucas sits at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. At the other end of the road is Tijuana, 1711 kilometers (1,063 mi) away. Oh, and the caption on the second display, "Origen de las Californias" is because the highway crosses through two of Mexico's states, Baja California and Baja California Sur.
Oh, but we also did some shopping. Well, window shopping. But not just windows. I mean, we went in lots of stores, we just didn't buy anything. 😅
There are basically three kinds of stores in Cabo:
And there are two or three of each kind on each block.
The shitty knickknack stores we just window-shopped. They were too shitty even to go inside. They were so shitty, in fact, we didn't actually window shop as they don't actually have windows. They just have 3 walls, a roof, and a floor.
The jewelry shops at least have four walls and windows. Some had interesting jewelry, but Hawk wasn't really feeling it today.
And the drug stores were ridiculously expensive. Stuff we can buy similar items for in the US is half to one-third the price, in the US. Cabo is no longer a drug bazaar like it was two years ago. It's just another tourist trap now.
